Product Update: Rename connected devices & room log š·ļø
Hey there,
Update 1.21 is a bit smaller than usual but I wanted to push it out mainly for the improvements around connected devices. In short, the controller now offers some options for connected devices, there is a log of all activities in a room and the controller page got a bit de-cluttered. But first, hereās the video giving you the gist.
(Yeah, my hair didnāt obey me today)
Connected Devices
On the surface, the āConnected Devicesā panel now gives you some options. Namely to ārenameā, āforce-reloadā and ākickā a device. So this should make it easier to deal with larger setups. Devices remember their name even after a page reload.
Under the hood, the handling of connected vs. disconnected devices was redone. This part was always a bit flaky. So much so that on January 26 a bug crept in that resulted in an infinite loop with connected device updates effectively crashing my server for a good 20 minutes. I had to apply a quick fix that turned the update function off. The redone code should work more reliably from now on.
Room Log
Admittedly, this is a little pet project of mine. I always wanted to have a logging function for everything thatās going on in a room. As usual, I completely underestimated the amount of work this meant. But now, Iām happy to say, itās finished. You can find it under āMenuā -> āLogsā.
Decluttered Controller Layout
In the last update announcement, I showed you the redesign I am working on. Decluttering the layout is the first step towards it. Some buttons have moved around and a few functions moved into the āMenuā dropdown. The idea is to concentrate settings that affect the entire room in the top part of the page instead of having buttons all over the place. One notable addition is the inclusion of the room name in the top left. You can even rename the room from right there.
Thatās it for release 1.21. As always, feel free to contact us, especially if you find a glitch or have good feedback.
