Fun Fact
On January 15, 2009, US Airways Flight 1549, bound for Charlotte, North Carolina, took off from LaGuardia Airport in New York City. Shortly after takeoff, the plane struck a flock of birds and lost power in both engines. The pilot, Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, determined that the plane could not make it back to the airport and instead decided to land the plane on the Hudson River. The plane landed on the river and all 155 passengers and crew members were able to evacuate safely, with only minor injuries. The entire event, from the bird strike to the successful evacuation, took just 26 minutes.
