Network Requirements
Stagetimer is a cloud-based service that requires an internet connection to sync between devices.
| Connection | Any internet connection - WiFi, ethernet, or mobile data. Works reliably on event WiFi, conference networks, and mobile hotspots. |
|---|---|
| Bandwidth | Extremely low - typically 2-3 MB for an entire show. Stagetimer transmits timing events (start/end timestamps), not continuous data, so you won't compete for bandwidth with other devices on the network. |
| Latency | Updates sync across devices in under 150ms on typical connections. Higher latency networks still work - timers continue accurately because start/end times are synchronized, not continuous timing signals. |
| Connection Drops | If connection drops, running timers continue counting locally. The viewer automatically reconnects and syncs new actions once connection is restored. A subtle status indicator appears during extended disconnections. |
For offline use or restricted networks, see the Desktop App.
